Place2Be
Place2Be at Edgar Wood Academy
We are proud to work in partnership with Place2Be, a national children’s mental health charity that provides counselling and mental health support in schools.
Place2Be helps young people to explore their feelings, build resilience, and develop strategies to cope with challenges inside and outside the classroom. Support is offered in a safe, confidential space where students can talk about what’s on their mind, from friendships and family issues to worries about school or mental health.
Parents and carers can also access advice and guidance through Place2Be to help them support their child’s wellbeing at home: Improving children’s and young peoples mental health – Place2Be
Place2Talk
Alongside one-to-one counselling, we also offer Place2Talk, a drop-in service where students can refer themselves for a short, informal chat. Sessions may be one-to-one or in a small group of friends, and they give students the chance to talk about any worries or problems in a safe and supportive environment.
Place2Talk is very popular with students who want to share concerns, resolve friendship issues, or simply have someone to listen. Students can request a Place2Talk appointment by completing a simple self-referral form in school.
Parental consent is not needed for these shorter drop-in sessions, though safeguarding procedures always apply.
