Edgar Wood Academy will operate a slightly longer day from Monday to Wednesday so that students will be able to use the academy’s facilities to extend their study and participate in compulsory enrichment opportunities. The school will be open from 8am for breakfast and all students will be expected to be on site by 8.30am at the latest, ready for the school day to start at 8.40am. The official finish time for lessons will be 3.00pm with an optional hour of enrichment on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Below is an example of a typical year 7 student timetable
Lessons will last one hour and will be structured over a weekly timetable.
25 hours per week will be allocated to the subject-based curriculum.
In addition to lessons, there will be a daily 20-minute tutorial/assembly in the morning, and a further 15-minute tutor time in the afternoon. The planned tutor programme will include a guided reading programme, as well as time for discussion and debate based on topical and cultural issues.
