💚 Day 4 of Children’s Mental Health Week 💚

Today we’ve been creating our very own Identity Shields – a chance to reflect on what makes each of us unique, the people and places where we feel safe and where we truly belong. By celebrating our strengths, interests and special connections, we’re building confidence and reminding ourselves that we all have a place in our community.

9Whi1 History produced some great work for their 'voices project' which involved interviewing somebody to find out more about their lives. The project is helping them to explain the usefulness and limitations of oral and social history.

Shoutout to Lily B who did an excellent interview of her Nan (Linda). Linda entertained the class with her memories of rationing in the 1950s, 'smog' and JFK's assassination. Her Grandad (Bill) also talked about his experiences of schooling and how so much has changed.

Samira asked some fantastic questions of her Dad (Eloizique) who grew up in a small island in Africa. Samira also did a great job of translating the interview for the class.

Remae's Dad (Jack) and Polly's Mum (Laura) also kindly shared their stories with the class.

It was an absolute pleasure to hear the interviews but also how inquisitive and respectful the pupils were of each others stories! We can't wait for the next lesson to hear more! Mrs Gaughan-Pollard
