⚽️ Inspiring the next generation of referees! 🟨🟥 Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Leigh Doughty and Natalie Aspinall from Referee Education Ltd to deliver their fantastic Mini Match Officials course to a group of our Year 8 and Year 9 students. 👏 Leigh is a current Football League referee, while Natalie has recently retired from officiating in the Premier League. During her incredible career, Natalie has also officiated at the Women’s Champions League Final, Women’s World Cup Final and Women’s FA Cup Final, among many other high-profile fixtures. 🌍🏆 Our students had an action-packed day learning what it takes to become a referee and how our school values link closely to officiating. They had the opportunity to: 🗣️ Learn about the role and responsibilities of a referee ⚽️ Referee games themselves 🟥🟨 Red and yellow card each other! 💨 Use vanishing spray 🎮 Create their own game and referee it 🚩 Take part in an Assistant Referee masterclass 💪 Develop their confidence and decision-making skills It was fantastic to see the students’ confidence grow throughout the day, with many pushing themselves outside of their comfort zones and getting fully involved. Most excitingly, some of our students are already talking about booking onto an FA Referees course when they are old enough! 👏⚽️ A huge thank you to Leigh and Natalie for such an engaging, inspiring and memorable day. It was brilliant to see our students not only developing their knowledge of football, but also building confidence, leadership and resilience. 🌟 Who knows… we may have some future referees in our midst! 🏆⚽️🟥🟨
