Some more great interviews from pupils for their History projects this time from 9Whi1. Here are some highlights from today!

Eridami interviewed his Mum, Peditin, about her childhood in Lagos. She spoke about her religious upbringing. She shared a lovely message of 'Be yourself, be content with what you have and work hard'

Leila spoke to her Mum, Evija, about her life in Latvia under the Soviet Union. The pupils enjoyed hearing about her memories of the fall of communism and her 2/3 day bus trip to London from Latvia! Leila did a great job linking the interview to our current studies.

Shawn's uncle Abraham shared his story of his childhood in Nigeria and migration to America where he became a US Marine!

Samira's Mum, Joana, shared her experience of growing up in Portugal and how different schooling was to today.

Well done to the pupils so far and thankyou for the family members giving up their time. Mrs Gaughan-Pollard

Y9 History Homework Project - Some great interviews shown to 9EHi1:

Fletcher interviewed his Grandad Gary who shared stories about his childhood, including footballing nuns!

Hayah shared her interview of Ismail who kindly told of his favourite memories including time spent with family during Ramadan and remembering Maradona's role in the 1986 World Cup.

Sasha bravely presented to the class her Grandma's stories about growing up in the Soviet Union - this is a topic we have been studying recently and the class really enjoyed Sasha's Grandma's insights into her childhood in the 1960s.

🌟 Virtual Employer Spotlight – Mental Health 🌟

A huge thank you to our school counsellor through Place2Be, for delivering an inspiring session for our pupils. We were able to link Children’s Mental Health Week with National Careers Week, giving pupils a valuable insight into careers within the mental health sector. With so many pupils showing a strong interest in working in mental health, this was a fantastic opportunity to hear from someone working in the field every day.

Rachel shared her career journey, what the mental health sector is really like, and what a typical working day looks like – helping pupils better understand the pathways and opportunities available to them.
