Our Year 10 pupils were delighted to welcome Nic from Rochdale Sixth Form College alongside two of our former pupils, Alex and Ella, who are now in Year 12. It was fantastic to welcome Alex and Ella back to Edgar Wood and hear how well they have settled into A Level study. We wish them both every success for the future! 💙 Thank you for making our Open Evening so special! A huge thank you to the 160+ families who joined us at Edgar Wood Academy last Wednesday. It was wonderful to see so many parents, carers and young people exploring our school, meeting our staff and students, and discovering what life is like at EWA. We’d also like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback afterwards. 💡 Word to the Wise: Understanding Your Pay This week, pupils will learn that the salary shown on a job advert is not always the amount they will receive. They will explore the difference between gross pay and net pay, alongside common deductions such as Income Tax and National Insurance. Understanding how to read a payslip helps young people check what they have earned, recognise deductions and use their net pay to create a realistic budget. This supports our Personal Development provision by developing pupils’ financial literacy and preparing them for employment and independent adult life.
