Photography (GCSE Option)

GCSE Photography is a lens-based and light-based course that focuses on creating meaningful images through photography and related digital processes. Students explore how photographers communicate ideas, stories and messages using cameras, editing software and visual research.

You will work with:

  • Digital photography.
  • Image manipulation and editing.
  • Photographic research and analysis.
  • Visual experimentation and presentation.

You do not need to be able to draw well to take this course. Photography focuses on ideas, creativity, visual thinking and technical skills, rather than traditional art techniques.

For more information on what will be studied and how it will be assessed in Photography in years 10 and 11, please refer to our Year 9 GCSE Options Booklet.
