We are excited to be planning a free pop-up prom shop for our Year 11 students — and we need your help to make it special 💙

We are looking for donations of:

Our goal is to ensure every student has the opportunity to feel confident and celebrate their prom in style, regardless of their circumstances.

If you have any items in good condition that you no longer need, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.

Our Year 10 students took part in our Mock Interview Day as part of their Personal Development curriculum. Pupils first completed an application form and were then interviewed by visiting employers, receiving valuable feedback on their communication, confidence and employability skills.

With over 30 employers volunteering their time, students gained real industry advice and constructive feedback to help them prepare for the world of work. Opportunities like this allow pupils to practise professional communication, reflect on their strengths, and build confidence ahead of future college, apprenticeship and career pathways.

A huge thank you to all the employers who gave their time and expertise to support our students.

The K.I.N.G.S Foundation came into 9EPS3 as part of our First Give programme. They shared the important work they do supporting young people through education, mentoring, safety and positivity, helping pupils understand the challenges some young people face around gang culture and knife crime. A powerful discussion about an incident in Moston helped pupils reflect on the real impact these issues can have on individuals, families and communities. The session highlighted how mentoring and positive role models can help guide young people to make safe and positive choices.

Thank you to Gerald and Venicia for sharing their experiences and for the valuable work they do supporting young people in our community.

9EPS4 were pleased to welcome Carl from Lighthouse Project as part of our First Give programme. Carl shared insight into the important work they do through Inspire Middleton, supporting individuals in our local community and helping people access the guidance and support they need. Pupils learned about the positive impact the project has locally and how community organisations work together to make a real difference.

He also spoke about his own journey into the role, explaining how his experiences and passion for helping others led him to the work he does today. This gave pupils a valuable insight into different career pathways within the community and charity sector. For more information, please see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlvKu6J1rWY

A huge thank you to Carl and The Lighthouse Project for taking the time to speak with our pupils and for the incredible work they do in our community.

We are recognising World Oral Health Day and promoting the importance of looking after our teeth and gums within our curriculum. Good oral health plays an important role in our overall health and wellbeing.

At Edgar Wood Academy we want to make sure every student has access to the essentials they need. If any families are in need of toothbrushes or toothpaste, you can contact the PSHCE Department confidentially at b.cole@edgarwood.org and we will be happy to support where we can.
