SEND & Inclusion

Every student at Edgar Wood Academy is known and valued. Here are answers to common questions about how we support pupils with SEND - for full details, see our SEND page and information report.

How does the school support pupils with SEND?

Support follows a graduated three-wave model: Wave 1 is universal, high-quality inclusive teaching for all pupils, including those on the SEND register (including Pupil Passports setting out individual strategies); Wave 2 is targeted intervention across four areas of need (communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social/emotional/mental health, and sensory/physical needs); Wave 3 is specialist support involving external agencies such as RANS, Speech and Language Therapy, and Educational Psychology Services.

Who do I contact about my child's SEND needs?

The SENDCo is Mr P Moreton (p.moreton@edgarwood.org) and the Assistant SENDCo is Mrs E Kane (e.kane@edgarwood.org).

Where can I find the school's SEND policy and information report?

Both the SEND Information Report and SEND Policy are published as downloadable documents on the SEND page, alongside the Academy's Accessibility Plan.
