Our Vision and Values

Our values have been developed through a partnership amongst staff, students, parents and carers. We show our Resilience, Empathy and Responsibility in our everyday actions and in everything we do at the Academy. We have worked with local businesses to ensure that our students have the key skills that employers look for, and these are planned into our curriculum as part of our Edgar Wood Strengths programme.

The Edgar Wood Promise

Our vision for excellence is one in which our students make outstanding progress in their learning and are engaged in an inclusive curriculum which delivers breadth and depth for each individual, as well as creating memorable learning opportunities. Throughout their studies, students will be acquiring powerful knowledge and developing their cultural capital, ensuring they are well prepared for life in the 21st century.

Our Values - Edgar Wood Strengths

Our values of Resilience, Empathy and Responsibility have been developed with parents, staff and students through our Junior Leadership Team and underpin our approach to how we treat and work with each other in our school. We believe that it has never been so important to develop resilience in our students; that commitment to never giving up, even when things get difficult. Students need to demonstrate their empathy by being aware of how their actions affect the feelings of others. We also promote responsibility, ensuring that students are dependable, and accountable for their own actions.Ewa strengths icon

Day 2 of Blackpool - the sun came out instead of the seagulls today! Year 8 were an absolute pleasure on both days: polite, respectful & had a great time on their fieldwork and in the arcades. A big shout out to Miss Barnes for all of her hard work in organising a brilliant trip. pic.twitter.com/KFcLUT0XvO

Some of our y8 pupils completed their Geography fieldwork today in a windy Blackpool. They explored coastal defences & completed a land use survey,  environmental quality survey & a field sketch to compare three different locations. They were fantastic & a credit to the school. pic.twitter.com/iB28KenVdu
